Mia Pras-Raves
I did my undergraduate studies and obtained the degree of doctorandus from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. I studied chemistry with a specialisation in small-molecule crystallography.
Then I went to Israel to do my PhD at the Weizmann Institute of Science, working with Professor Joel Sussman on the X-ray structure of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase.
I worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the department of NMR Spectroscopy of the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, on joint refinement using X-ray and NMR data on the HU protein.
Currently, I'm working at Solvay Pharmaceuticals in the field of Computer-Aided Drug Design in the department of Medicinal Chemistry, trying as a team to develop new drug candidates.
Protein crystallography; in particular Laue diffraction studies
with the ultimate goal of time-resolved studies: watching the
enzyme in action.
Joint NMR - X-ray structure refinement on a protein
(my abstract
for the IUCr
Glasgow meeting where I gave a talk on this subject
last year).
Interactions between proteins (receptors) and small molecules
(agonists and antagonists)
